Athletes of the Week – January 19 to 25, 2026
Athletics and Recreation is pleased to announce your Fleming Phoenix Athletes of the Week for the week of January 19 to 25, 2026. Offered in partnership with the Fleming Campus Store, Athletics and Recreation will recognize student athletes based on criteria that could include game performance, team performance, academic recognition, campus, and community engagement.
The Athletes of the Week for January 19 to 25 are:
Carson Burr
Sport: Men's Hockey
Program: Police Foundations
Carson is a goalie with the Phoenix men's hockey team. In the recently held Phoenix tournament, Carson played two outstanding games including a win against Humber College. In an overtime shootout, Carson stopped all three of Humber's shooters to secure the win. Carson is a dual-sport athlete who also plays on the Fleming varsity men's volleyball team. Congratulations Carson!
Abby Smith
Sport: Women's Volleyball
Program: Early Childhood Education
Abby is a first-year player on the Phoenix women's volleyball team and has impressed her coaches with her hard work, commitment to the team, and positive attitude on and off the court. During the two away games this week, Abby played hard and supported the team with a total of five kills, three digs, one solo block and six points. Congratulations Abby!
In recognition of being selected as an Athlete of the Week, our athletes will each receive a $25 Gift Card to the Campus Store. Thanks to the Campus Store for sponsoring the Athlete of the Week program
